England still has it right and has had it right for a long time now:-
They have an electric vehicle deliver milk to your doorstep each morning in a glass bottle. When you’re done with it, you place it out on the doorstep for them to pick up and refill. Now that is good management of resources and environment.
I have began to purchase milk (organic) in glass bottles from a local dairy called Avalon (click to check out their home delivery options). The store here in Tofino, takes the bottles back off you to return to the dairy. To encourage one to do this, a dollar deposit is charged on the bottle, which is returned upon receipt of the bottle. Simple, yet helpful. This method also cuts costs for the dairy as they reuse their bottles.
No more tetra packs for milk.
