Day 70 (positive project) Pass on the Plastic

Today in a cafe, after asking for the lunch special, it was handed to me in a plastic container. This disgusted me, but what disgusted me more, was that I accepted it. I almost told them to make a fresh one and to place it on a plate, but I didn’t want to cause a fuss.

Afterwards I wished I had said something. From now on, I will. I have already changed my ways with take out coffee and will never purchase a coffee to go if I don’t have my own mug. I am now going to use the same rules with food.
I can imagine how difficult it will be to purchase certain items without plastic packaging, but on those occasions when there are options, I will at least speak up or choose a different option.
I’ll likely post again about this subject to let you know how it progresses.

  1. When I’m traveling, I carry my coffee mug with me. I can’t stand coffee in a styrofoam cup and I hate even more what styrofoam does to the landfills.
