Last night the entire towns power was down for about 3 hours. No lights throughout the whole town, including the street lamps. This is a fairly regular occurrence for our town during the winter due to storms out on the coast here.
It was great to take time out and sit and read by candlelight, but one other huge positive, was the environmental aspect of energy saved during this.
Once a year many people observe Earth Hour. For those that don’t know, this is a day in the year dedicated to highlight the importance of reducing energy use around the globe, by observing at least an hour where no electricity is used. It seems that this power-cut is more useful, as it forces people to conserve electricity.
Maybe more forced power-cuts is the way to go.
